Thoughts about Antique Radio Forum

I have been a member and participant in Antique Radio Forum since 2007 and have for the most part found members to be friendly, helpful and more than willing to lend their expertise to answering a technical question.   During the last couple of years, I have come to the conclusion that the Forum is becoming more of  clique among members who participate regularly as for instance a "good 'ol boys club".  Those of us, like me, who are not "regular" Forum participants either have our questions ignored or answered in a condescending manner.  Primarily, I am speaking of my experience.  As an example, I posted a classified regarding a radio that a customer had for sale.  The classified information was on my website so rather than go into a long-winded explanation about the item, I posted my website.  I was chastised by two respondents and given friendly but cool advice by two others.  When working on a restoration the other day in the shop, I needed a piece of expertise from someone perhaps more knowledgable than myself and thought of  putting the question before the Forum.   Giving the problem at hand further thought, I decided to consult my vast library of books dedicated to electronics, yesterday and today.  Consulting several books on the subject of  "output transformer impedence matching", I had the answer I was searching for in about an hour.  I preserved valuable time as I didn't have to wait for an answer I might not get and kept my blood pressure in check by not reading some "what are you, stupid" condescending response that I indeed might get.  I will continue to read the Antique Radio Forum as there is much to learn from others.  However, I will no longer be a participant.

Additional thoughts regarding Antique Radio Forum....Positive

Recently needing some information regarding the availability of a schematic for the below pictured radio and with the information at hand unable to find it listed in SAMS "Photofact Index" (lists diagrams for every American made radio and audio/video component since 1946), I humbled myself and turned to Antique Radio Forum.  I expected the mixed usual few responses consisiting of offering nothing of substance to the condescending.  To my unexpected surprise, I have received 8 replies over the last two days offering a great deal of positive input.  Every barrel has its share of bad apples, and you are going to bite into one every once and awhile, but you don't stop eating fruit just because you bite into a bad piece now and then.  Antique Radio Forum overall is comprised of knowledgable and friendly individuals willing to give you a few moments of their time to offer positive input to a question or hair-pulling problem....now you know why I am bald!  Thanks Forum members, WILL
